Our Founding Father - Mickey
It's 1957 and an ambitious young man with only a $100 to spend put together his first ever Water Ice truck. Not knowing exactly how this would work out he took the plunge and hit the streets of Philadelphia. This first truck would eventually lead to a fleet of trucks covering most of the city. This went on for almost 8 years with great success and would convince him that he was on to something special.
In 1965 with the help of his brother Louie, he opened his first Retail and Wholesale location, located at 1950 East Lehigh avenue. His idea behind this was to make his own brand of Water Ice that would set him apart from all the others. It took a lot of trial and error with the exact formulations but finally they got it right.
The Present The formulas which made Famous Italian Ices a staple in this city are now being enjoyed all over the country. His dream did come true and we are keeping it alive by making the very best Ices ever made.
